Spre deosebire de această specie, "Fastigiata" este un arbore de dimensiuni medii spre mari, cu o coroană columnară, care își păstrează forma chiar și la o vârstă mai înaintată. Arborele poate atinge 15 m înălțime, dar în practică crește de obicei până la aproximativ 10-12 m înălțime. Crengile tinere sunt de culoare brun-roșiatică până la gri-maronie și sunt glabre.
