'Plantijn' este un soi olandez care inițial crește puternic. Mai târziu în viață, creșterea scade oarecum. Coroana este mai puțin columnară decât cea a soiului "Lobel". 'Plantijn' crește mai întâi în formă conică sau ovală largă, dar în cele din urmă formează o coroană în formă de evantai. Este dens închisă, cu un trunchi principal mai mult sau mai puțin continuu și cu ramuri laterale dens ramificate, care cresc într-un unghi ușor de-a lungul trunchiului principal. La arborii mai bătrâni, un număr de crengi atârnă grațios. În cele din urmă, arborele crește cu o lățime de aproximativ 6 - 8 m. Frunza este de culoare verde-cenușie și se încolăcește la uscăciune.
