Un arbore de talie medie, cu o coroană densă, rotundă sau în formă de vază largă și cu o înălțime de 6-12 m. Crengile tinere sunt maro lucios și ușor păroase, dar în curând devin goale. Scoarța veche este gri-maronie și se desprinde în plăci mici, dar scoarța inferioară portocalie este mai puțin proeminentă decât în Bosque.
