Ușor asemănător cu T. americana, un copac mare cu o coroană ovoidală până la larg ovoidală. Frunzele de formă grațioasă, larg ovoidale, au o bază în formă de inimă, uneori ușor oblică. Vârful frunzei este ascuțit. Cu o lungime cuprinsă între 15 și 22 cm, frunzele sunt remarcabil de mari. Când se desfășoară, frunza este ușor colorată în bronz. Frunza adultă este de culoare verde închis lucios în partea superioară. Pe partea inferioară este mai deschisă, cu mici smocuri de fire de păr maro deschis în nervuri. Florile parfumate de culoare crem apar în corimbi pendulanți în iulie. Acestea sunt urmate de fructe rotunde, păroase și cu păr scurt. A fost introdus în cultură de Van den Berk ca T. neglecta. Această denumire s-a dovedit a fi sinonimă cu T. americana, în timp ce copacul diferă de aceasta. Prin urmare, s-a decis să se dea arborelui un nou nume de soi: Tilia americana "Neglect".
