Arbore solitar cu creștere rapidă, cu o coroană semi-deschisă, în formă de evantai larg, pe un trunchi scurt. Scoarța netedă este gri închis cu lenticule. Crengile sunt de culoare verde-oliv, cu părul cenușiu catifelat și cu lenticule mici albicioase. În al doilea an, acestea devin gri-maronii. Frunzele impare-penate constau din 5 - 9 frunze parțiale opuse și au o lungime de 20 - 35 cm. Fiecare frunză este ovală cu vârful ascuțit, are o lungime de 4 - 9 cm și un peduncul scurt. Partea superioară a frunzei este verde închis, iar partea inferioară verde deschis. În panicule largi piramidale de 10 - 15 cm, se găsesc flori albe parfumate de 0,3 - 0,5 cm fiecare.
