Arbore de talie medie, cu o coroană rotundă de formă oarecum neregulată și frunze cu forme curioase. Arborele are o înălțime și o lățime de 6 până la 10 m, crește mai încet decât specia și, prin urmare, rămâne mai mic. Cu o lungime de 3 până la 7 cm, frunzele sunt relativ mici și ovoidale până la ovoid inversat. Este dens grupată la capătul crengilor și este foarte variabilă.
