Arbore de talie medie, cu o coroană oarecum neregulată, de formă larg conică până la rotundă. Crește semnificativ mai încet decât specia și, în cele din urmă, rămâne mai mic. Trunchiul are o creștere mai puțin groasă, iar crengile sunt relativ subțiri. Cea mai izbitoare caracteristică a "Summer Veil" este reprezentată de frunzele sale foarte adânc lobate. Frunzele sunt lobate până la nervura principală în multe locuri. La rândul lor, lobii ascuțiți sunt, de asemenea, grosier dințoși. Frunzele sunt verzi vara, devenind galben-maronii toamna și rămânând pe copac până în plină iarnă, când se usucă. Predispus la crăparea scoarței în caz de îngheț. Frunzele adânc lobate conferă copacului o textură atractivă și fină. Acest soi a luat naștere ca răsad de Q. cerris și a fost comercializat de Van den Berk Nurseries, Sint-Oedenrode, Țările de Jos.

Middelgrote boom met een ietwat onregelmatige breed kegelvormige tot ronde kroon. Groeit beduidend langzamer dan de soort en blijft uiteindelijk kleiner. De stam heeft minder diktegroei en de twijgen zijn relatief dun. Het meest opvallende kenmerk van 'Summer Veil' zijn de zeer diep gelobde bladeren. De bladeren zijn op veel plaatsen tot op de hoofdnerf gelobt. De puntige lobben zijn op hun beurt ook grof getand. De bladern zijn 's zomers groen, kleuren geelbruin in de herfst en blijven tot diep in de winter verdroogd in de boom hangen. Gevoelig voor bastscheuren bij vorst. De diep gelobde bladeren geven de boom een fraaie, fijne textuur. Deze cultivar ontstond als zaailing van Q. cerris en werd door Van den Berk Boomkwekerijen, Sint-Oedenrode, Nederland op de markt gebracht.
