Pterostyrax corymbosus este un arbore de talie medie, care poate atinge 10-15 m înălțime. Coroana sa largă este în formă de evantai sau rotundă și, datorită frunzelor sale destul de consistente, este densă. Crengile sunt de culoare cenușie până la gri-maronie, la fel ca și scoarța mai veche, care este ușor canelată. Ramurile sunt destul de fragile, astfel încât se rup ușor în timpul vânturilor (foarte) puternice. Frunzele destul de mari, lucioase, au o senzație oarecum hârțoasă. Frunzele mature sunt glabre în partea superioară și păroase pe partea inferioară. Florile albe apar în panicule largi de până la 6 cm lungime și se deschid în iunie, puțin mai devreme decât florile de P. hispidus.
