Prunus subhirtella 'Pendula Rubra' este o formă de arbore cu creștere lentă și cu frunze largi. De obicei se altoiește pe tulpina înaltă. Ramurile principale se întind pe orizontală, iar crengile tinere și subțiri, relativ lungi, sunt puternic căzute. Formează o siluetă decorativă de iarnă. Înălțimea finală de circa 4 m. Frunzele verzi sunt mai lungi și mai înguste decât cele ale speciei, culoarea de toamnă este galben-portocalie. Înflorește abundent de la sfârșitul lui martie până la începutul lui aprilie.
