Arbore de mărime medie cu creștere rapidă și cu un model de creștere tipic. La o vârstă fragedă, coroana este aproape stufoasă și, de asemenea, oarecum neregulată. Abia după câțiva ani copacul va crește columnar. Crenguțele tinere sunt de culoare roșie-maronie, iar scoarța veche este de culoare verde-cenușie până la gri-maronie.
