Pinus mugo "Gnom" este un soi cu creștere lentă, care poate ajunge la o înălțime și un diametru de 4 m după mulți ani. Are o coroană foarte densă, de formă sferică. Forma densă a coroanei se formează deoarece fiecare lăstar se ramifică anual cu 3 - 5 lăstari tineri. Acele rigide au o lungime de 3,5 - 4,5 cm și sunt de culoare verde închis. 'Gnom' este folosit în principal ca arbust și apoi foarte potrivit pentru utilizarea în grupuri la sensuri giratorii, diguri, de-a lungul drumurilor, în parcuri, în cimitire și în grădini (mari).
