Această formă de P. amurense se transformă într-un copac de dimensiuni medii, eventual mari. Coroana este ușor mai îngustă și are o formă ceva mai regulată decât la P. amurense. Crengile anuale sunt brun-roșcate, iar scoarța mai veche este gri-maroniu deschis, cu șanțuri adânci de plută. Frunzele mari, impare, au frunze parțiale care variază în număr de la 5 la 13. Frunzele parțiale sunt oval-eliptice până la alungite și au o lungime de 5 până la 10 cm. Frunzele sunt de culoare galben-verzui opac pe partea superioară și verde deschis pe partea inferioară. În special frunzele tinere sunt ușor păroase pe partea inferioară. Paniculele de flori galben-verzui au o lungime și o lățime de 6 până la 8 cm și apar în iunie. Toamna, frunzele se îngălbenesc mai întâi și apoi cad devreme. Boabele negre cărnoase și lucioase rămân pe copac toată iarna.
