Osmanthus ×burkwoodii este un arbust veșnic verde care crește între 2 și 3 m înălțime. Crenguțele tinere sunt de culoare verde (deschis), iar scoarța mai veche este netedă și de culoare gri închis. Frunzele, care sunt întotdeauna opuse, sunt ovale sau alungite-ovoidale și au o lungime de până la 5 cm. Acestea sunt de culoare verde închis și ușor lucioase. Florile mici, albe, se deschid în aprilie și mai. Acestea stau în ciorchini denși și seamănă oarecum cu florile de liliac (cu care Osmanthus este înrudit). Florile au un parfum puternic și plăcut și sunt bine frecventate de albine. Doar sporadic, după înflorire se formează drupe mici de culoare albastru-negru. Osmanthus ×burkwoodii provine, în jurul anului 1925, dintr-o încrucișare între Osmanthus decorus și O. delavayi.
