Arbore mic, columnar, cu o înălțime de 5-6 m. Crengile tinere sunt de culoare brun-violet, iar scoarța mai veche este de culoare brună până la maro-cenușie și netedă. Frunzele răsar de bronz și devin verde închis vara. Florile se deschid roz pal și strălucesc alb pur. Cu un diametru de peste 6 cm, acestea sunt remarcabil de mari. Perioada de înflorire este de la mijlocul până la sfârșitul lunii aprilie. Merele roșii strălucitoare au formă de pară și rămân în pom până în noiembrie.
