Un arbore rar, cu o coroană deschisă și rotunjită, care mai târziu devine în formă de umbră. Crește în mod natural în Asia de Est. Cultivat de mult timp în Europa și apreciat atât pentru frunzele cât și pentru florile sale decorative. Scoarța veche este ușor solzoasă. Frunza mare este compusă din 7 până la 11 frunze parțiale, ovoidale, fiecare cu o lungime de 5 până la 8 cm. Când se desfășoară, frunza este remarcabil de păroasă, de culoare gri-argintie. Partea inferioară rămâne ușor păroasă. Florile albe, de aproape 1 cm fiecare, se află în ciorchini de flori erecte, lungi de 10 - 15 cm. Toamna apar păstăile aplatizate de 3 - 6 cm lungime. În ciuda rezistenței sale de încredere, Maackia amurensis preferă să crească într-un loc adăpostit.
