Liquidambar styraciflua "Paarl" Foarte asemănător cu specia, dar se deosebește prin faptul că forma coroanei este de la columnară la piramidală îngustă. Ramurile laterale groase cresc în sus, aproape de trunchi. Înălțime 20 - 25 m. Trunchiul devine gri și este profund canelat. Crenguțele tinere sunt galben-verzi și devin roșu-maronii. Frunzele cu 5 (uneori 7) lobi sunt de culoare verde închis, cornoase și adânc crestate. Culoarea de toamnă începe târziu. Frunzele devin galbene până la roșu-portocaliu. După înflorirea discretă, apar fructele de lungă durată, spinoase și mari de aproximativ 2,5 cm, de tip cutie.
