Arbust robust la copac mic de aproximativ 4 m înălțime și lățime, cu un obicei de creștere în formă de vază largă. Nu se ramifică foarte puternic la o vârstă tânără. Toamna, frunzele ușor lucioase, de culoare verde închis, devin galbene, portocalii și roșii. Înflorește destul de devreme în timpul iernii, în jurul lunii decembrie/ianuarie. Florile au o dimensiune de aproximativ 4 cm și sunt de culoare portocaliu-cupru. Nu miros aproape deloc. Acest cultivar a fost inițial distribuit la scară mică sub denumirea de lucru "Copper Beauty", dar această denumire nu a fost niciodată publicată și astfel a devenit sinonimă. Culoarea unică a florilor face din "Jelena" un cultivar indispensabil în sortiment.
