Arbust robust, cu un obicei de creștere în formă de ventilator rotund până la aproximativ 2,5 m înălțime. Rareori se transformă într-un copac mic. Frunzele ușor lucioase se transformă toamna de la portocaliu-gălbui la roșu-violet închis. Înflorește spre sfârșitul lunii ianuarie/mi-februarie cu flori roșu bronz foarte slab parfumate, de până la 4 cm în diametru. 'Diane' a fost numit și introdus în 1969 de Robert și Jelena de Belder de la Arboretum Kalmthout din Belgia. Ei au numit planta după fiica lor. Deși este unul dintre cele mai vechi cultivare de H. x intermedia, 'Diane' se numără încă printre cele mai bune Hamamelis cu flori roșii.
