Un copac cu creștere destul de lentă, cu o formă piramidală a coroanei. Exemplarele tinere cresc subțiri, dar la o vârstă mai înaintată coroana se lărgește datorită ramurilor mai depărtate. În cele din urmă, se dezvoltă o coroană ovoidală cu o înălțime maximă de aproximativ 15 m. Scoarța moale este netedă și gri.
