Arbore columnar subțire, cu ramificații drepte și crengi verticale. Structura ramurilor este mai robustă decât la F. sylvatica și la cultivare. Foarte stabil din punct de vedere dimensional și poate atinge o înălțime de peste 20 m cu o lățime de numai câțiva metri.
