Arbust mare cu mai multe tulpini sau copac de dimensiuni mici sau medii, cu o coroană sferică semi-deschisă și aplatizată. Scoarța este cenușie și netedă, doar mai târziu în viață poate dezvolta caneluri puțin adânci. Lemnul, în special atunci când tocmai a fost tăiat, este de un galben izbitor. Frunzele compuse constau din (5)7 până la 9(11) frunze parțiale eliptice până la ovoidale cu o dimensiune de 8 - 14 cm. Frunzele devin galben-aurii toamna. Paniculele florale libere, pendulante, sunt formate din numeroase flori roz parfumate. A fost găsit la Institutul Perkins pentru nevăzători ca răsad și înmulțit de Arnold Arboretum. Ca și specia, are un sistem radicular cărnos și crește cel mai bine într-un loc însorit și cald. Este perfect rezistentă.
