"Clopotele de vară" este un arbore sau un arbust mic (înălțimea la maturitate 3-8 m), un hibrid între Chilopsis linearis și Catalpa bignonioides. Frunzele sunt alungite și înguste. Chitalpa tashkentensis "Summer Bells" înflorește abundent, cu flori asemănătoare unei orhidee, de culoare roz pal cu gât galben, înflorind în perioada iunie - august, cu un parfum dulce. Înflorirea începe la începutul verii și durează aproximativ 2-3 săptămâni. Urmează o a doua înflorire la mijlocul lunii august. Chitalpa crește cel mai bine în plin soare, în sol bine drenat. "Summer Bells" is een kleine boom of struik (volwassen hoogte 3-8 meter). Hybride tussen Chilopsis linearis en Catalpa bignonioides. Het blad is langwerpig en smal. Chitalpa tashkentensis 'Summer Bells' bloeit rijkelijk met orchidee-achtige, bleekroze bloem met gele keel, bloeit juni – augustus, zoet geurend. De bloeit start vroeg in de zomer en duurt ongeveer 2-3 weken. Een tweede bloei volgt half augustus. De Chitalpa groeit het best in de volle zon, op een goed gedraineerde grond. Bij vochtig weer gevoelig voor meeldauw. Trekt bijen en vlinders aan. Chitalpa is vrij zeldzaam en daardoor niet breed verkrijgbaar.
