'Grayswood Ghost' este un tip de arbore de talie medie spre mare, adesea comparat cu popularul 'Thornwood', considerat echivalentul său englezesc. Acest copac dezvoltă o coroană ovală largă, care poate crește până la 15 metri înălțime și aproximativ 9 metri în diametru. Ca și în cazul "Thornwood", coroana "Grayswood Ghost" are o formă foarte regulată, ceea ce îl face deosebit de potrivit ca arbore de bulevard pentru străzi și alei largi. Scoarța este inițial maro închis, dar se schimbă într-o culoare aproape albă după câțiva ani, scorojindu-se doar puțin. Frunzele sunt de un verde închis lucios, oferind un contrast plăcut cu scoarța albă. Toamna, frunzele se îngălbenesc înainte de a cădea. Acest arbore crește bine în pavaje semi-deschise, ceea ce îl face potrivit și pentru străzi largi și bulevarde.
Înrădăcinează superficial, cu multe fire de păr fin în solul superior. Originalul "Grayswood Ghost" se afla la Grayswood Hill, Anglia, iar materialul de înmulțire a fost colectat chiar înainte ca arborele să moară. În 1985, acest material a fost denumit "Grayswood Ghost" și distribuit.
