Crește de la un arbust cu mai multe tulpini la un copac de dimensiuni mici sau medii. Coroana largă, piramidală până la aproape rotundă, este dens ramificată, cu crengi rigide și relativ groase. Crenguțele tinere sunt de culoare brună până la gri-maronie, cu lenticule proeminente. Crengile mai bătrâne și scoarța sunt de culoare auriu deschis strălucitor. Trunchiul se lasă doar puțin. Frunzele capătă toamna o culoare galben-aurie intensă. Pentru un mesteacăn, frunzele sunt relativ mari. Pe măsură ce copacul îmbătrânește, frunzele vor deveni mai mici. Înflorirea are loc destul de târziu în primăvară. La fel ca specia, "Gold Bark" înflorește cu ghiocei destul de mari, ceea ce reprezintă o caracteristică ornamentală suplimentară. A fost selectat pentru culoarea bună a scoarței și pentru că are un port mai asemănător cu cel al arborelui. Deși copacul tolerează bine vântul, se simte cel mai bine într-un loc oarecum adăpostit.
