Amelanchier spicata este un arbust mic și variabil până la un copac mic, cu o coroană îngustă, ovoidală sau ovală. Frunzele sunt mai întâi păroase pe partea inferioară, apoi glabre. Vara sunt de culoare verde închis, iar toamna se colorează în galben și roșu-maroniu. Florile mici se deschid în ciorchini scurți și erecți pe la jumătatea lunii aprilie. Florile individuale sunt alb-verzui, albe sau roz foarte deschis. Acestea sunt urmate de fructe de culoare purpurie-neagră, care nu sunt remarcabil de mari, dar sunt suculente și comestibile.
