Alnus incana "Pendula" este un arbore mic, cu o ramură principală continuă care creează o coroană îngustă de formă ovoidală. Crește mai încet decât A. incana și formează o coroană compactă. Trunchiul este brun-portocaliu, iar crengile tinere sunt de un galben-portocaliu izbitor, de asemenea brun-portocaliu iarna. Spre deosebire de A. glutinosa, A. incana nu are părți lipicioase. Frunzele împrăștiate sunt ovale cu vârful ascuțit și au marginea frunzei zimțată, iar partea inferioară este păroasă până la pufoasă. Culoarea de primăvară este un galben izbitor, iar vara frunzele devin verde deschis. Acest arbore este mult mai comun decât A. glutinosa 'Aurea', care are și el frunze galbene. Păstăile de arin apar din septembrie și împodobesc copacul toată iarna. Are o rădăcină principală adâncă, dar rămâne mai mult la suprafață decât A. glutinosa. Nu tolerează pavajul.
