Albizia julibrissin 'Summer Chocolate' este un arbore lat, cu o coroană în formă de evantai. Frunzele mari, dublu-penate, sunt de un violet intens, spre deosebire de specie. Frunzele își păstrează această culoare intensă pe tot parcursul verii. Împreună cu textura fină a frunzelor cu două foi fin penate și cu înflorirea remarcabilă, formează un ansamblu impresionant. Noaptea, frunzele se pliază. În iulie și august, copacul înflorește cu capete dense de flori mici, dispuse împreună pe tulpini lungi. Staminele de culoare roz moale depășesc cu aproximativ 3 cm deasupra florilor. Necesită adăpost în iernile aspre.
