Aesculus hippocastanum "Pyramidalis" crește puțin mai încet decât specia. Spre deosebire de specie, poziția ramurilor este înclinată în sus (la un unghi de 45°), astfel încât coroana rămâne considerabil mai îngustă. Mai târziu în viață, coroana se lărgește și va fi ovoidală. Cu toate acestea, copacul crește rareori mai mult de 6 m în lățime. Crengile groase, cu un diametru de ± 2 cm, sunt vizibile.
