Acer platanoides "Crimson King" este un arbore de talie medie, cu o înălțime de până la 15 m. Coroana este de formă conică largă până la ovală. La maturitate, seamănă foarte mult cu 'Crimson Sentry', dar are o coroană mai largă, în special în tinerețe. De asemenea, creșterea lui "Crimson King" este mult mai viguroasă. Frunzele sunt de un roșu închis strălucitor. Florile și fructele sunt asemănătoare speciei. A fost selectat în Belgia în 1937 de către compania franceză Barbier & Co., dar nu a fost introdus de către Gulfstream Nursery (SUA) până în 1947. Folosit ca arbore de parc și solitar. Soiul crește în toate solurile, dar nu tolerează apele subterane stagnante și solurile turbate. Bun rezistent la vânt.
