Abies koreana este un conifer cu o formă piramidală îngustă și o creștere mai lentă decât majoritatea celorlalte specii de Abies. Ca arbore tânăr are o formă ușor neregulată, dar mai târziu crește foarte uniform în formă piramidală, cu o lățime finală de 3 - 4 m. Ramurile sunt dens compacte, de culoare gri-gălbuie și au muguri mici, rășinoși. Acele de culoare verde-închis sunt strâns unite, aproape în formă de perie. Deoarece sunt alb-albăstrui pe partea inferioară, A. koreana este frumos pe tot parcursul anului. Spre deosebire de alte specii de Abies, conurile cilindrice drepte de 4 - 7 cm lungime și aproximativ 2,5 cm grosime apar la o vârstă fragedă. Inițial sunt încă verzi, dar mai târziu devin violet-violet până la albastru oțel. Pe piață există mai multe soiuri interesante de A. koreana.
