Arbore mic, cu o coroană liberă, rotundă sau în formă de evantai. La fel ca și specia, trunchiul este de obicei slab ramificat, cu mai multe ramuri principale. Scoarța veche este cenușie și solzoasă, lăsând la vedere scoarța inferioară portocalie. Frunza ovoidală până la alungită are vârful lung și ascuțit și un singur dinte ascuțit.
