Un vechi cultivar belgian cu o coroană ovoidală largă, mai puțin densă decât "Brabant". 'Tournai' are o ramură centrală bună și continuă, din care cresc ramuri verticale oblice. Înălțimea de aproximativ 25 m, lățimea de aproximativ 15 m. Trunchiul neted este gri închis, iar crengile tinere sunt gri-verzui și pufoase. Frunzele sunt mai mult sau mai puțin rotunde, de culoare verde închis mat, cu o parte inferioară densă și albă-feliată distinctivă. Toamna, devine galben pal și este longeviv.
