Această selecție făcută în Norvegia diferă de specie prin faptul că are o creștere mult mai lentă și o coroană mai densă, conică. În ciuda creșterii mai lente, copacul va putea atinge o înălțime finală de aproximativ 12 m. Crengile sunt de un maro-portocaliu izbitor. Scoarța veche este gri-maronie și se desprinde în benzi grosiere. Acele robuste, destul de scurte, sunt ușor răsucite și au o lungime de 4 până la 6 cm. Acele sunt grupate în mănunchiuri de câte două și sunt de culoare verde-cenușie. Conurile de culoare gri-maronie atârnă singure sau în spirale de 2 până la 5. Acest Pinus crește chiar și în condiții extreme. Arborele preferă solurile bine drenate, ușor acide și destul de uscate. Este deosebit de rustic, rezistent la vânt (de mare) și insensibil la poluarea aerului. Datorită formei compacte și conice a coroanei, "Norska" poate fi folosit și în grădini.
