Un arbust de dimensiuni reduse până la un copac mic, care provine din Arboretum Kalmthout, în nordul Belgiei. Are o coroană rotundă, deschisă, cu ramuri subțiri și căzătoare. Crengile acestei specii sunt mai puțin spinoase decât cele ale mai cunoscutului H. rhamnoides. Scoarța veche devine aspră și se desprinde. Crengile tinere sunt brune, solzoase și tomentoase. Frunzele sunt de formă lanceolată îngustă până la alungită și de culoare verde moale pe fața superioară. Fața inferioară a frunzelor este de un alb-cenușiu izbitor. Spre deosebire de specie, acest cultivar masculin nu dă fructe. Hippophae este în mod ideal o plantă pentru zonele de coastă. Brizele sărate ale mării sunt bine tolerate. De asemenea, acest copac nu are probleme cu sarea de pe șosele. Preferă solul uscat, sărac și ușor calcaros.
