"Vranja" este un arbore mic, cu o coroană aproape rotundă, cu o înălțime de 3-5 m, în unele cazuri mai mare (8 m). Este un arbore de creștere moderat de puternic până la viguros, ale cărui ramuri de tulpină cresc destul de orizontal. Crengile tinere sunt păroase ca de pâslă, iar scoarța veche este neagră-maronie. Frunzele ovoidale până la ovale sunt de culoare verde închis și au o dimensiune de 10-12 cm. Înflorirea are loc în jurul sfârșitului de aprilie-început de mai, mai devreme decât la această specie.
