Arbore de talie medie, cu o coroană piramidală compactă și îngustă, care devine ovoidală mai târziu. Similară ca formă a coroanei cu "French Fontaine", dar cu ramuri ușor mai groase. Frunzele sunt, de asemenea, ușor mai mari și de un verde mai închis decât la alte soiuri, devenind galben-maroniu până la galben-auriu toamna. În lunile de iarnă, frunzele ofilite rămân în copac pentru o perioadă foarte lungă de timp, ca la Fagus sylvatica. Creșterea rădăcinilor este mai degrabă superficială.
