Acer palmatum "Dissectum" este un arbust scund și lat, cu ramuri larg arcuite, dacă este altoit pe un trunchi. Frunzele sunt divizate palmat, iar frunzele parțiale sunt, de asemenea, incizate aproape până la nervurile principale. Frunzele tinere sunt de culoare verde deschis până la verde-gălbui. Frunza de vară este de culoare verde-mediu. Toamna, devine portocaliu aprins până la roșu deschis.
