In line with the Louvre tradition, the garden in front of the palace is completely symmetrical. The garden has a central axis, with two square raised terraces left and right. The trained tilias surrounding the terraces form a beautiful contrast with the many Taxus baccata hedges. Van den Berk Nurseries supplied around 100 Tilia europeaea ‘Pallida’, size 20-25 in 1994-1995 – normal standard tilias, which were clipped on site – and thousands of yew trees.
